Catching up on the last 6 weeks in pictures. It’s been hectic but a lot of cool stuff too. First thing is the hot-tub. We I spent a good deal of August and early September fretting over the idea, but we pulled the trigger and it was all setup by late September. A bit of an impulse thing (minus my fretting), but I can admit it has been nice. Adding it to the gazebo we built in the late winter makes for a really nice setup in the backyard. I’m pretty keen on continuing to improve on the backyard over the next few years and making it a really nice place to hang out.

I got some drawing done, but not as much as I’d like to say I did (goals). I was able to finish one drawing for the sketchbook and one for the DnD campaign. Both came out pretty good. The one on the left is a Lucy Harker from Werner Herzog’s, “Nosferatu” (excellent movie). The one on the right is a scam of the, badass, “Zaku II” designs from the “Gundam: Mobile Suit” franchise. I copped the designs for some space troopers I needed for my DnD campaign because, as Adam pointed out, “Mikey just felt like drawing Gundam’s” – guilty. Side note: I spent a ton of time working on the DnD campaign and I really enjoyed it. I even figured out that Chat GPT can generate stat blocks for all the wacky NPCs and badguys I dream up. Really fun. (The last picture is a random photo I took of a page from Charles Burns’ new comic, “Final Cut” which I’m making my way through. It has some gorgeous, weird, ink drawings.)

Did some Kayaking, bike riding and general watching the leaves change through October. I really do love fall….and also doughnuts. Oh, and the frigging Aurora was “visible” right over my house. Second time in my life I’ve seen the Northern Lights…both times, this year.

Most recently, I caught a Wiz game with my big bro, voted early (doing my part) and had an amazing time with Colin playing the “Dune: Uprising” board game, drinking beers and watching the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy (extended cuts, of course). That was really fun. We learned how to play the game and got one round in on Friday night (Fellowship start to finish). Then ate lunch and played another game (Two Towers). Dinner and 2 more (Return of the King). Finished the last game at around 1:30AM right as the credits were rolling on the RotK! Perfection. Then, we even got an extra hour of sleep for daylight savings time.
