Headed to Blacksburg on Friday to help Colin move house from the place he’d been in for the past 3 years to a new spot. Beers and dinner at Eastern Divide Brewery to game plan, then over to Colin’s townhouse to get stuck into packing and cleaning. The old place looked a lot better by Saturday morning when we closed the back of the U-Haul. Of course, Colin was the last roommate to move out, so the job of cleaning the whole place fell on our shoulders. (New Rule: never be the last person to leave!) Vacuuming, cleaning the bathrooms, kitchens, baseboards, and door frames—whew! The old place actually didn’t look terrible when we were done. Then we headed back across town to move him into a slightly smaller room in a house that has had the same 3 college kids living in it for 3 years. It was sort of weird dropping him off into a much dirtier (maybe I should say, “more lived-in”) and cluttered space than he had just vacated. But job done, or mission accomplished, or whatever. We headed back home pretty worn out on Saturday night.
- Blacksburg was really nice. A little cooler, way less humidity. I could see myself living there again someday.
- Eastern Divide Brewery was nice too. Good beer, really nice views and located in a cool spot on the Eastern Continental Divide
- Back in the Shed this morning and back on track with another bike ride through the old Mount Vernon hood.
😊
