Saturday Jan 7. Woke up feeling much better than yesterday, a little early even (one minute before the alarm went off) poured my coffee and headed directly to the shed to finish up some work. Back to the kitchen for a quick breakfast then back to the shed again. Started and finished the pencils on a Frozen North drawing and listened to some tunes while at it. Now, I’m even doing a blog post – all before lunch. LET’S GO!
(ahem)
Here’s a pic of the pencils:
This idea came to me in a bit of a flash yesterday. I’m always happy when I get an idea out of nowhere and I’ve learned to trust that and act on it. I had originally planned to make the jars full of brains and even started putting little circles at the bottom to contain the party head shots, then another bit of inspiration told me to put the party’s heads in the jars instead. I love it. It’s way more horrific this way. Also it leaves more room for the Frozen North logo at the bottom of the page. The background was going to be a bunch of mad scientist laboratory gadgets but I think I’m just going to leave it white to save some time and get into inks.
Other notes and updates from the week:
- Got a bunch of new pens for inking/drawing – pictured below – the Pentel Fude, the Kuretake Zig White brush pen and the Cocoiro Letter pen. Excited to try them out.
- Marcus and I went with my friend Andrew and his son to a Capitals game. Andrew’s company has a luxury box – so we were lucky enough to get invited. (Advice: try not to pass up trips to see sports in a luxury box – its pretty rad. Also advice – take better pictures than me.)
- My dog Pebbles. she’s a real old bitch – she hates everyone and everything, but we love her.
Finally, I’ve decided to post progress on my goals weekly…maybe it will help me stay on track.
Week 1
- Bike 1000 miles 28/1000 (on track)
- Lose 20 pounds: 1/20 (on track)
- Travel Abroad: harder to measure progress here – evrything i’ve read tells me I need small measurable steps that I can accomplish to track progress and feel good about it….but in this case there only a few steps. 1.) Renew my passport it’s expired 2.). Plan the trip – maybe the hardest step. 3) book it. 4) complete the trip. …so…this week I completed the passport form and booked an appointment at the post office to get my photo done and forms processed. (on track)
- Finn the Furious Chapter 1: nada, did not touch it. (not on track)
